Hibernation

2027 | Meat Market Stables
It's 2038 and the Australian government is proposing a controversial remedy to human induced climate change and its devastating consequences: global human hibernation. The idea quickly attracts world-wide attention and the countdown to compulsory hibernation begins. Eighteen months later, a bio-engineered chemical is released into the atmosphere and the entire world drifts off to sleep for one year. But not everyone stays asleep.
Through interwoven narratives spanning the globe, Hibernation by Finegan Kruckemeyer engages with the socio-political debate that is intrinsically linked to climate change, global inequality and personal autonomy in times of collective crisis.

Undying
2026/2027 | Kingston Arts & Clocktower Centre
Undying is a new interdisciplinary performance work investigating contemporary longevity science, biohacking and the growing desire to extend, optimise and overcome the human lifespan. The work sits between theatre, science and social inquiry, using performance as a space for experimentation, ethical questioning and public conversation.
Structured as a triptych of short plays, Undying explores longevity science, biohacking and the human desire to overcome ageing and death. Led by flatpack Artistic Director Olivia Staaf, the project brings together three emerging playwrights: Holland Brooks, Emily Jenkins and Bronte Lemaire. Through distinct and intricate world-building, the work asks what our pursuit of longer lives reveals about emerging biotechnology, social inequality and what it means to be human.
